Bishop Helen-Ann pays homage to the King

This week (March 6), Bishop Helen-Ann took another step in her journey as the new Bishop of Newcastle, paying homage to His Majesty the King.

Bishop Helen-Ann, together with her husband Myles, met with King Charles III at Buckingham Palace. The homage was profoundly moving and the King, who talked to Bishop Helen-Ann about Newcastle Diocese and in particular her interest in rural and farming matters, was extremely warm and welcoming.

The tradition of bishops paying homage to the Monarch dates back to the reign of Elizabeth I.

Later in the week, Bishop Helen-Ann was back at Buckingham Palace as part of a delegation from the General Synod for the Presentation of Loyal Addresses by Privileged Bodies to His Majesty the King.
