On Thursday 26 January, eight primary schools joined together for a Christingle service at Newcastle Cathedral.

Year four pupils from across the Diocese learned about the symbolic meaning behind the Christingle during the service which was organised by the Children’s Society. The Right Revd Mark Wroe, Acting Bishop of Newcastle and Canon Paul Rickeard, Director of Education, both gave short talks while Canon Clare MacLaren led the children in some sung worship. Pupils from Duke's Secondary School in Ashington supported with the event.
