Holy Trinity reaches out to community with key summer events

It's a busy summer for Holy Trinity Church, Jesmond as they host two of their biggest events of the year.

‘Lifepath’, took place from 12-13 June, and ‘Love our Community’, will take place between 23-30 July. Both events aim to help the church connect with their local community and to host a fun space for children to explore the Christian faith.

Earlier this week, ‘Lifepath’ saw over 160 school children visiting Holy Trinity from Heaton, Shieldfield, Byker and Walker, to take part in craft and prayer workshops, drama and music as well as Bible storytelling.

This year, they learned about St Oswald, and explored how his Christian faith shaped his life.

The event was led by Holy Trinity’s ‘Open the Book’ team, with the support of Heaton Baptist, MINE and St Thomas’ resource church.

Prior to the event, Revd Tim Sanderson, Vicar at Holy Trinity Jesmond, said: “It is hoped that Lifepath will allow us to make deeper connections with these schools and that the children will have a great day out in church, learning how faith can positively impact their lives.

“We are very grateful to the St Hilda Charitable Trust for financially supporting this venture.”

Then, during the first week of the school summer holiday (23-30 July), Holy Trinity will be transformed into a pop-up café to host the many families and friends they connect with through Trinity Tots, Messy Church and Vintage. During ‘Love our Community,’ activities will be available for older teens and younger children alike, while teams will head into the streets to clean, weed and connect with local residents.

Revd Tim added: “On Saturday 15 July we’ll be delivering postcards across the Parish to invite people to the week of events. We’ll also take this as an opportunity to pray for our streets and parish.

“For those unable to attend any of the events, we ask that you think of your own creative ways to show your love for the community.

“We really can’t wait to host these events over the summer, a time for connecting with the community and spreading our love.”
