The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time priest to be Priest in Charge of the Benefice of Blyth St Cuthbert.
Blyth is a key commercial and residential centre in Northumberland, a town with a proud heritage, currently undergoing extensive redevelopment and attracting a new population through housing developments. The parish of St Cuthbert’s contains key social and commercial players in the town such as the Port of Blyth, the popular beach front, town football team and RNLI station.
A new Priest in Charge is sought who can bring energy, commitment and vision, to strengthen and encourage the current congregation to create a new profile for the church in the town. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who can nurture inspiring and imaginative worship and continue to develop an already high standard of pastoral outreach and civic engagement. You will be a good teacher and pastor encouraging and inspiring all in prayer, discipleship and understanding of God’s Word, as well as discerning and developing the gifts of all God’s people. You will lead the parish in active collaboration with the other churches in Blyth as, together, the people of God seek fresh vision for God’s mission in the town.
Might God be calling you, as a priest with a passion to see people grow in faith and confidence, an enthusiasm for building relationships across communities, and a vision for the sharing of the Gospel, to help us to turn outward in mission and to be truly “Good News” for Blyth.
