A right royal day out!

Magical scenes greeted Shirley Brown and Baz Dowsett at Windsor Castle as they were gifted Maundy money by HRH Prince Charles.

As reported in our April Link, the pair were nominated to attend the Royal Maundy Service by Bishop Mark in recognition of the outstanding contribution they have made to their communities.

Shirley, churchwarden in the parish of St Cuthbert, Allendale, and Baz, from Percy Main in North Shields, were presented with red and white purses containing Maundy money by Prince Charles who represented Her Majesty The Queen at this year’s service.

They were among the 96 men and 96 women, reflective of the Queen’s age, to receive the royal invitation to the Maundy Thursday service at St George’s Chapel. They described the occasion as “wonderful” and “magical”.
