Pioneering Priest

The Bishop of Newcastle wishes to appoint a full-time pioneering priest to the South East Northumberland Transforming Communities (SENT) BMO: a three year fixed term appointment.

We seek a pioneering priest to take a lead in the work of SENT. Might God be calling you to serve in South-East Northumberland, in the towns of Ashington and Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, with their proud and positive spirit, and their warm and friendly communities? Ashington and Newbiggin are set within the historic context of Northumberland’s Christian and industrial heritage, yet they are focussed on contemporary challenges including social justice and social inclusion. St John’s, St Andrew’s, Holy Sepulchre and St Bartholomew’s are modern catholic and open to additional styles of worship.

Main Responsibilities

The people of these churches are praying for a lively, mission-minded priest, who will deepen engagement with the wider communities, build bridges between community initiatives and faith exploration, help develop lay ministries and increase cross-parish working. Our pioneering priest will enjoy the support of able and committed colleagues and congregations, as they engage with local concerns, assist worshipping communities in spiritual and numerical growth and promote the foundational importance of partnership working between laity and clergy.

The Ideal Candidate

We seek a collaborative leader, with a pioneering spirit and a love of people, possessing the wisdom, talent and enthusiasm, to help us to develop our worshipping communities to be truly Good News for South-East Northumberland.

This is a three year fixed term appointment
