Churches in the North Tyne community joined together for a special service to mark World Day of Prayer.
St Cuthbert’s at Bellingham hosted the ecumenical event, on 7 March, which included representatives from Bellingham Methodist / United Reformed Church and St Oswald’s Catholic Church.
World Day of Prayer is a global ecumenical movement led by Christian women who welcome people to join in prayer and action for peace and justice.
At Bellingham, a team of readers led a service which was written by women from the Cook Islands, made up of 15 islands off the coast of New Zealand.
Marie Ness is joint lead for World Day of Prayer in Bellingham, alongside Cath Brennand.
Marie said: “We learned a lot about the Cook Islands. Together their land mass is only two-thirds the size of the Isle of Wight.
“The service included a specially written theme song which reminded us we are all wonderfully made by God who knows us, and that God is with us.
“We are thankful to all of the readers and also to the Revd Roberta Ritson (United Reformed Church minister) who provided the music.”
