Bishop's Christmas Appeal

Bishop Helen-Ann has launched the Bishop’s Christmas Appeal in aid of the West End Refugee Service and the Farming Community Network.

Message from Bishop Helen-Ann

The Church has always been a place of refuge and support for those in need, and this Christmas I ask that you join with me, if you are able, in supporting the work of two charities which will be making a difference to people’s lives this Christmas. This year, I have chosen to make an appeal for the West End Refugee Service and the Farming Community Network.

The West End Refugee Service provides information, advice and advocacy, together with material and financial support to those who are seeking refuge in our area, and are waiting for their asylum claim to be processed by the State. They are on a very limited incomeand are not permitted to work. Many become homeless, as they have no access to public funds.

The Farming Community Network (FCN) is a charity that supports farmers and families within the farming community through difficult times, including financial difficulties, animal disease, mental health and family disputes. Through a network of volunteers, FCN provides free and confidential, pastoral and practical support to anyone who seeks help, and also runs a confidential helpline.

The closing date for the appeal is the eve of the Epiphany on the 5th January, and donations can be made through the diocesan giving page for the Bishop’s Christmas Appeal, or cheques made out to ‘Newcastle Diocesan Board of Finance’ can be posted to: Finance, Church House, St John's Terrace, North Shields, NE29 6HS. Please write ‘Bishop’s Christmas Appeal’ on the back of the cheque.

Thank you for considering my Christmas Appeal, may the hope, joy, love, and peace of God be yours this Christmastide.

Every blessing,

+ Helen-Ann
