A concert which enabled young people to express their musical talents has been hailed a resounding success.
Despite stormy weather conditions, there was a good turnout for the In Harmony Concert, at St Matthew’s Church, Elswick, on Thursday 5 December.
It featured the West Newcastle Symphony Orchestra, which was born out of the In Harmony Newcastle Gateshead project, which provides music opportunities for young people.
St Matthew’s has a long-standing link with the In Harmony project, and church organist Aidan Evans said the latest concert was a joy to behold.
“It’s always a joy to welcome these talented young musicians to our church and the concert was enjoyed and appreciated by all who were present,” said Aidan. “One of the orchestra’s tutors commented that they loved coming here because of the fantastic atmosphere.
“Despite the poor weather conditions, attendance was excellent and everyone had a wonderful evening.”
