Caring for God's Creation

As Christ's disciples, we share a welcome duty of stewardship towards God's Creation, expressed in the fifth Mark of Mission agreed by the Anglican Consultative Council:

“To strive to safeguard the integrity of creation and sustain and renew the life of the earth.”

We believe that:

  • Our relationship with the natural environment is integral to our relationship with God
  • Good ecology is a matter of social justice and so is central to what it means to be a Christian
  • Care for the environment should be a key component of Christian living individually, as churches and as a diocese

Our Environmental Policy expresses our commitment to live out these principles, in:

  • Our worship and teaching
  • Our activities, land and buildings
  • Our strategy and planning
  • Our engagement with local communities, government and businesses
